Default Replacement All-Season Tires for Speed 6

Just ordered some Pirelli Zero Nero M+S's to replace the Summer tires that came with the speed 6. The tread was worn down enough that I wouldn't feel safe driving in the snow. I wanted to put some ContiExreme 225r45/18's on it, but TireRack said they'd be too wide, as well as the Mazda Tech. I'll post my feelings about the tire after the first snowfall.

Anyone put 225r45's on their 6 without problems?

I wanted to go with the 225s and I was told they prob wont rub, but that are larger so that the spedo would be off more than normal...I dont think Id go with it...

I'm in the same boat. I have a Mazda 6 w/ the 17 in 5 spoke alloys. I just bought some Mazdaspeed 6 rims. Stock tires for them are 215 45 18. I'm thinking about going with 225 40 18. There are a lot more tires to select from at that size. I like the slightly lower profile too. I'll be waiting to hear from you guys to see how your new tires worked out.

Got the Pirelli Zero Nero M+S's from Tirerack at 125/tire and 43 shipping -- no tax. I stuck with the stock size per the advice from TireRack and Mazda tech. Hasn't snowed yet, so no feedback available for you on that. There was no way I was gonna be able to go another winter with the Bridgestone summer tire. I'll post again after the first snow.

Regards,

Keith

I've got 225/45R18 Bridgestones on 18x8 RX-8 wheels on my wife's Mazda6 wagon. She's driven probably 25,000 miles or so with no issues reported. (only run them in the summer, we've got 205/50R17 Dunlop wintersport M3's for the cold months.)

Keith,
Having just picked up my MS6, and living in Chicago.....how did the stock tires do in snow when new? By the way had the Pirellis on my 06 cobalt ss supercharged and loved them. They were not as good as the blizzacs, but good enough and that was with FWD.
