Default Poor workmanship

My Mazda ended up mechanically totalled. It stayed in the shop for 3 months and had several thousand dollars worth of parts put in. I only had it back for a little over a week before trouble returned. Finally, a new service manager admitted that when the coil pack was replaced the EGR valve was never reattached. That caused enough damage to the car that it was essentially totalled out. Knowing that my warranty was up in less than 5,000 miles, I traded it in, as I figured that even if they managed to get it running again that I would continually have problems with it. The dealership decided to sell it for scrap, numerous techs lost their jobs, and I lost around $7,500 between payments, new tires, and my original trade in, but finally ended up with a very reliable car and a very valuable lesson learned.

Sorry for the loss and agony you had to go through because of your car. And that certainly scared me a bit .

Noggin, you did an amazing work with your exhaust. I hope I don't have to go that far to resolve my CEL.

Default CEL because of broken air intake hose

Hello there,

I thought I should give you all an update. My CEL was on and the code came back lean air. O'Reilly said usually it's the sensor and they pointed towards upstream sensor. So I got one and was about to replace. I scheduled that day to change filters for Mazda and other car we've (Rogue). I started with filters and while changing engine air filter, I found the air intake to be broken which had been reported to show the same code. So I duct taped it right away till I get my part from Amazon (local stores charge 2-3X). I am expecting the part tomorrow though CEL is already gone!

I missed the crack in the hose in previous filter changes, either I wasn't looking or it was at the bottom. Well I think I got lucky this time!

Thanks to you all for responding and inputs.
