Default Oil Pressure Light HELP!

2005 Maxda 6S
Oil pressure light comes on when the motor warms up.
If I keep the revs at 2000 oil light stays off.
When warm @ idle light comes on.
My mechanic tested the pressure. It is 100 PSI at idle. Should be around 40 PSI.
Does the over pressure fool the sensor???
I have a restriction some where. But where?
Will a new oil pump fix this?
Any help greatley appreciated!
Thanks!
E

This is outside of my comfort zone.

I do not know if the oil light comes on when the pressure is too high or only if it is too low.
If there is a restriction somewhere it will cause oil starvation past that restriction. No good.

A few question: How many miles are on the engine? Has the oil been changed regularly? With the proper type of oil?

Here is a primer on the issue, that's all I can do for you now.

I would put in an oil cleaner like: Auto-Rx Plus Non-Toxic Sludge Remover and Cleaner for Engines and Transmissions

Default oil change and new filter fixed the problem

before spending hundreds or thousands
I changed the oil and filter
The problem went away.
My guess is the filter was clogging up
Thanks for the help.

For peace of mind, install a good quality electric oil pressure gauge.
