i own a mazda 6 2004 sedan 2.3 lt 5 sp manual, it started with the pressure plate throwing a fin which done a couple of laps in bell housing causing a little damage, gear oil was flowing in, i removed box from car and new it needed fixing. anyway i took it to a machanic who pull it apart (yes it only comes apart from the rear no access in bell housing) cleaned it up, sent ell housing to be welded up and put it all back together, i also replaced clutch an press plate and thrust bearing etc before putting the car back together. any way i can get 12345 but no reverse or if i do some serious adjustments to cables i get 345R so my thought is that when mechanic rebuilt it he put the selector post in one tooth out (see picture), Anyone have thoughts???? i think this is out slightly so it lifts selector at wrong time to slot R
Well I found the issue, a simple washer under the reverse light switch was missing so it wouldnt allow the selector to travel fully so no reverse but its all good now
