The tranny's are japanese, and under your warranty the rental should be free.

We had a Mazda 6 2006 that has 53000 miles and the transmission just went out. The casing cracked and fell apart. From the research I have done just today on the internet, it appears that Mazda does not make a good transmission! At least yours is under warranty! Ours isn't and we still owe $21,000.00 on it!

I've got an 04 wagon...35K miles and no problems. Automatic transmission.Had the transmission fluid flushed and refilled at 30k miles. Fingers crossed, babes.....

Hey everyone,

I just purchased an '05 Mazda6 V6 Auto/Man with 40k miles on it about 6 days ago. The last few days I think I've been experiencing the transmission turmoil - In both 1st and 2nd gear my car jerks back and forth until it hits 3rd gear, it's not as bad an manual-mode if I take it slow. Does that somewhat match the same problem a few others are reporting?

Hmmm, it's been rather warm here 65-75 the past few days. Although it dropped to the mid40's today and that's when it's been at its worst so far. Was it a simple fix for you or was your car in the shop for a few days?

Thank you for the reply by the way!

I am here in Richmond VA and was a mazda dealership today to get some crush washers, and I asked the service tech how many M6 trannies have been coming in, he said about 1 a month.

Doesn't sound good for mazda owners, Anyone know what would need to be done to start a recall?

It was a simple TSB fix...just had them do it with my oil change, and best part it was free!

one a month? How many cars do they service a month? If they service 2 thats a lot! if they service a 1,000 thats not bad!
