I have just bought a second hand mazda6 sport (2003) with the Bose 6 cd in dash changer.

Now i want to fit a parrot handsfree kit which involves unplugging the bose unit. The problem is that I do not have a code written down anywhere. I am not even sure if the code has been set by the previous owners.

The question I have is: If i were to try and set my own code or disconnect the unit and cause the anti theft lock to trigger, what is the procedure for getting it working again?

I would assume it to be a case of paying for an unlock code from mazda, however the owner manual says the unit would need to be replaced!

Can anyone tell me the reality on this matter before i unwittingly incurr a bill for hundreds of pounds by needing to get the unit replaced.
