Default Mazda6 2.5T

Anybody buy the 2018 Mazda6 with the 2.5 Turbo? I would be interested to hear your thoughts.

Given it is lacking a manual transmission, I won't be plunking my money down for one. It's a shame really as I like everything else about the car.

I recently got this car with the 2.5T and I love it. Engine has good low end torque response, very responsive little to no turbo lag. Definitely a fun car to drive. Let me know if you have any specific questions!

I just bought the 2018 Signature Edition last week and so far I love it. As shipo mentioned, it does not come with a manual transmission and I would have loved it even more if it did. It has a lot of low end torque and if you put in the higher octane fuel, you will get 250hp out of the engine. Not bad at all for a 2.5 engine. IMHO! I love the looks on the outside and the look and feel in the inside.

No desire for the M/T and the last reason not to look at this car. The engine is excellent. It hides the performance by not having any of the dreaded torque steering and IMO turbo lag is virtually non existent. Pulls hard from top to bottom of the RPM range.

If this is a car on your radar you'd be doing yourself an injustice to not drive it. Keep in mind the engine will perform noticeably better after a few thousand miles of break in. If you can keep your foot out of it the gas mileage is very respectable. Cruising 75-80 mph we had no problem averaging 30+ mpg, well above the highway rating.

Very pleased with our choice.

I love this car and if, like you say, the performance improves even more after a few thousand miles I will be even happier!

Break it in as per the manual. For lack of a better description you will start noticing the engine "loosening up" as you hit the 1K mark. She do like to run.

I've had mine for just a week, but I love it. Coming from a VW GTI (220hp, MT, but a very light car), I'm impressed with the torque of the 2.5L turbo. Also, the six speed automatic is surprisingly smooth.

I'm still running the tank of 85 octane gas the dealer provided, but looking forward to 91 octane (the highest available in Colorado).
