Hey guys ive got a 2008 2.5L Mazda Atenza AUTOMATIC.

How much transmission fluid does it require for my gearbox?

Basic drain & refill is 3 liters. There will be another 3 or 4 litres within the transmission & torque converter.

You may want to drain & refill 3 ltrs, drive 1000kms do another drain & refill, drive another 1000kms and drain & refill again.

We use Castrol Transmax Multivehicle at my dealership, which is what is recommended by Mazda since they stopped supplying genuine Mazda M-V ATF.

No i want to do just one change only, doing it three times seems like a waste.
So 3L is all i need for the trans fluid change? As our local mazda dealership sells them in 4L bottles

3 litres won't change the fluid. Is not possible to change all the ATF in one exercise. Even using a flushing machine will take 8-10 ltrs.

Yes obviously it wont drain %100 of it, there will be some left over, however draining majority (all that comes out drainplug) will have a huge impact as it’ll replenish majority of the fluid.

i just want to know whats the approx capacity for draining and refill!

Anyone else who can confirm besides this guy?-_-“

I am the Mazda technician doing this job at the dealership.

You will be lucky to get 3 litres out of the sump. Its physically not possible to get the majority out without a flush machine, or indepth dismantling of the transmission.

Sounds like 3 liters is your answer for a drain-and-refill, R96.
