Default quick ATF fluid question

At almost 38,000 miles on my 05 Mazda 6 2.3 auto, I have decidied to change the ATF fluid. How does Mazda change tranny fluid. Do they only drain a portion of the fluid or drain it all. I wanted to use AMS ATF fluid because I respect their product. Does that mean I will have to do a full tranny flush if I use AMS? In other words, if Mazda only changes a portion of the ATF fluid, do I have to use MAzda's ATF fluid? How much does this service cost? I love this car and I want to keep it for a long time! I would appreciate any help!

Default RE: quick ATF fluid question

The Mazda dealer charged me about $115.00 for an ATF powerflush-and-refill. A simple drain-and refillwill removeonly a portionof the fluid, and is thus a defeat of the purpose. I had the power flushdone at 30k miles, but will probably not do it again until 90k miles. Hope this info helps you. Cheers,

David

Yeah. I am thinking along the same lines of you. I bought some AMS ATF fluid. Mazda is going to charge $70 for labor. A entire flush is 130 when you use their fluid. Thanks for the reply!
