rear drivers side electric window not working. vehicle is right hand drive. all other power windows working. neither the drivers switch or the rear drivers door switch operate the window. known good switch does not operate the window. multimeter shows only very low (mV) voltage reading on connectors for motor and the rear doors own switch. fuses in the fuse block by front passenger foot well are ok. i suspect a fault in the power harness that powers the right side interior electrics. Could it be a damaged wire anywhere from the connector near the battery in the engine bay to the rear door connections that are not getting any significant voltage?
I've had this type of fault before on my old Skoda, it turned out to be the main control unit (the buttons in the driver side) that were the faulty.
- A simple trick to see if it can be the faulty one you can try removing it and see if the opposite window can roll down without the main unit being plugged in.
First of all thanks both for taking the time to respond with good advice.
For logic's sake I decided to proceed with ElGoats advice first, long story short, I just bought a new main/master switch but to no avail. The rear offside window does nothing. I'm returning that now. (£25 isn't a lot to chuck at a car).
Proceeding with grim_reapers advice, I ran 1.5mm cable from the positive terminal of the vehicles 12V battery to each of the pins on the suspect motor. Nothing. I'm buying a replacement now. Hopefully a bad motor is the problem as I really don't want to try and mess around with under floor in door wiring with a soldering iron in one hand etc.
