Default Max RPM's

I'm 23 and enjoying my '07 Mazda 6. I'm not looking into going extreme on racing, but every now and then I mess around on the street. What is or do you guys recommend me reving my RPM's to before hitting the next gear? I haven't redlined it......yet...and I'm hoping not to. Suggestions?

You should redline it every now and then, it clears out carbon deposits in your engine.

And I'm not sure where the 6's numbers are best, though I think max HP is somewhere around 5200-600-range? I'd try shifting there.

I just got an '07 6s as well, so far so good. I notice a slight lag when upshifting though, so if you're accelerating hard, you may want to shift a little before 5500ish so you don't end up over-revving her. Or maybe this is a problem with mine specifically, can anybody confirm that their 6s has that shift lag also?

Expriment with youre shifting. Some car models are different. Try to shift when you feel the most push or torque applied. Sooner or later youll get it to where you will be perfect shifting with no problem.
