Knocking/tapping sound (Mazda 6 2015 Diesel 2.2)
Hi,
I'm new to this forum I've recently bought a 2015 Mazda 6 Nav 2.2 (150PS) love the car, my first Mazda....
However.....
Today I was starting to gently accelerate and I noticed a knocking tapping sound from front passenger side (UK) it's low down in the foot well area.
I did a short video to listen to.
The tapping/knocking is wheel speed related it's not engine related because when the car is stationary it sounds normal and if you dip the clutch and rev the engine whilst moving the tapping continues at the same frequency regardless of the engine speed, so it must be drive shaft onwards really.
It's only when you go over or upto 20 mph after that speed the knocks all blend I to one, and it's hard to discern the knocks it ends up sounding like a brrrrrrr (see video) over 20mph
I'm thinking CV joint?
Any help, advice or experience of this I'd be most grateful.
The car has done 95k

Unfortunately it turned out they couldn't replace the gearbox thrust bearing they had to put in a reconditioned gearbox
to fix it, at a cost of nearly £4000, thankfully it didn't cost me a penny as I'd only just bought it off a dealer, bizarrely the car had done every single
service by Mazda since new, so just goes to show a full service history although helpful isn't to be relied upon.
it now drives like a dream (fingers crossed)
