Default Key fob stopped working after a week (replaced battery)

Hello all.

So the battery in my fob had been dead for about a year. I replaced it a few weeks ago. It worked fine for all of a week then went dead on me again. I remember it clearly, I unlocked the car on Saturday night to unload groceries and then Monday when I used the car again it was dead. Is it possible it was some sort of delayed reaction and I need to repair the fob like you guys have suggested in the other posts? Or have I messed up the fob completely by not changing it for so long?

Pull it apart, test the battery, check & clean terminals, re-assemble & test.

Does the red LED illuminate when you press the button?

So I did this repairing thing that I saw on another thread here. Key worked for all over 3 seconds, lit up and everything. Now nothing. No red might or response to any of the buttons. And yes, I did pull the key apart last night and reassemble it.
