Default ipod adapter for 09 mazda 6

Hi,
In the navi I see an ipod icon under Source but it's not light up. Do I need to get an adapter or something to be able to control my ipod from the navi unit?
THanks,
Tin

You can't control the iPod from the headunit. It simply outputs the sound from the iPod when connected. Controls are still done from the iPod. They make iPod windshield mounts to make things a bit easier. Radio Shack sells the auxillary cords in various lengths btw.

Oh really?
That sucks.
How come there's an ipod icon under Source.
I see FM, AM, SAT, DISC, Aux 1, Aux 2, Ipod.
That's stupid if you can't control it from the unit.

Well maybe if you buy one of those adapters then. For example: http://www.amazon.com/PAC-Control-Ad.../dp/B000LUS4CK

I went to the stealership to ask about it. It costs over $300 for the modular and the adapter. What a rip off.
