Hardwiring Radar Detector - where to pull ground?
I'm attempting to hardwire my radar detector in my 2009 Mazda 6. I hope to use a fuse splice to pull power from one of the fuses that's switched so the detector is only on when the car is on. However, to pull this off I need to pull ground from somewhere. Does anyone know a good location to pull ground from near the fuse box?
If the fuse box route isn't the way to go, is there a convenient pair of wires to tap into? Is there an easy way to gain access to the cigarette lighter wires? I know that getting to that section of the dash was rather easy in a last-gen Mazda 3 but the Mazda 6 dash doesn't look to come apart like that.
Thanks in advance.

hard wire
it does not matter the year make or model. just power it from a spot in the fuse box that only works when the car is on and use one of the bolts by the fuse box as a ground. If one bolt does not work try another. One the hot side, it would be wise to use some type of inline fuse system so you do not keep on blowing fuses. For the ground you can hook the hot up and then just touch the ground wire to different bolts to see what is ground.
