Hi guys newb here,

This is my first car it is a 2009 Mazda 6 6sp. and when driving the car for a long period of time on 5th or 6th gear the shifter gets stuck and it is really hard to get it into neutral or any other gear, and even after forcing the gear out it affects all the gears. After I shift back from 6th the shifter gets stuck at any place say neutral but it does not move as freely as it should. This issue is gone after parking my car for a short period of time but then it returns back if I drive for more than 15-20 minutes. I showed it to a mechanic and he said shift your gears into each gear before leaving or double clutch if it gets stuck and I've tried both it does not work at all. Btw I bought this car a few months ago in the winter and it was worse to shift into any gear I have to wait for the car to warm up and that helps it to shift a bit nicely, but the clutch feels good its just the gearbox which is giving me problems. I hope I don't have to replace the transmission.

I don't know where to start do you have any suggestions ?

Cheap option is to change the gearbox oil. I recommend Castrol VMX
