engine stutter on brand new M6
Hi
(
Mazda 6 Hatchback
2.0L turbo diesel
121HP
Current mileage: 31500 km (19573 mile)
)
I have the following problem with my Mazada6 I bought last year:
Quite often when I'm driving a couple of minutes between 2000rpm and 2250rpm and I have to accelerate or decelerate (to follow traffic), my engine stutters.
The stuttering usually lasts 0.5s to 1.5s. Within that timeframe I experience, on and off, severe power loss for a couple of engine rotations each time.
So far I only noticed this in 5th and 6th gear.
I have told my dealer of this within the first two weeks (The car is now 10 months old) and first it was "when the air conditioning kicks in, it takes a lot out of the engine" but it happens also in winter, I don’t use much air conditioning in winter. Then it was my driving because "I wasn't used to driving a diesel" but every driver in that car has the same problem, recently they "preformed a regeneration cycle on the particle filter, which should solve the problem". But the problem definitely remains.
I drove other M6 with a 2.0l turbo diesel enginewithout any problem.
My M6 is really a great car and my dealer gives me a great service but in this case I don't think he has a clue what's going on. Can anyone please help me?
Thanks in advance,
Wim.

RE: engine stutter on brand new M6
Chevron makes an injector cleaner for diesels that works really well. Called Techron. It could be your injectors have a bad spray pattern due to partial clogging from carbon on the tips. Just add that to your gas tank and see if it helps. Like 6 bucks.

thanks for the tip, I will try this. I really hope it works. However I can't help to wonder "partial clogging from carbon on the tips" in a brand new car?It had only 7km on the counter when I took it home from the dealer and I already noticed this issue the very first time I drove on a highway.

g w, glad to hear someone else is suffering the same problem. My '07 6 has had the EXACT same problem, at EXACTLY the same RPM. It can be quite a violent shudder when the power comes back in. It seems to be getting worse, as well. I don't buy the A/C kicking in answer from dealer, think that is a lotta smoke and mirrors. I will be chasing this with my dealer, and will advise the outcome. At this moment, I'm just glad to know someone else has the same problem, as I thought it might be just my vehicle...the only difference from yours is that mine has the 143ps engine...

with it doing that i would say , run your gas to where you are almost out and fill up with gas and put some injector cleaner in the gas tank also if it gets worse and you start hearing like a slight grinding sound then yeah your tranny

hi, i have same fault on my mazda 6 tdiesel, fault is the suction control valve on the fuel pump, if you plug into diagnostic machine you will get no fault codes but rail pressure will fluctuate when fault present! am stil arguing withmazda over repair as still in warranty, mazda claim part not available but local specialist can do job though i would have to pay, will post what the outcome is! otherwise it has been a very reliable family car, v impressed, tough see what/how mazda deal with this........

Im having the same problem at the moment. Took mine into the dealer today for them to have a look at it all they did was a diognostic and found no fault code. They said it was me, and what i was getting was the turbo coming in. I wasnt best pleased!!! The fault is around 1800rpm if you lift off the accelerator and then re aplly power it hesitates then accelerates. They not long ago reprogrammed my ECU now sometimes i have no power at all its starting to drive me mad. Dealer says that they dont know anything about this fault and if Mazda themselves have no way of fixing it i will have to just put up with it. I know my luck it will come out of warrenty and then it will cost me a fortune to fix.
