Default Cooler and filter

Hey all. I just purchased a B&M trans cooler (16,000), and a Magnefine inline filter for my '04 6s.

I've read the articles on Mazda6Tech regarding the installs. Anything else I should know before I start? I'm assuming this will be my chore for next Saturday. If there is ANYTHING that you might consider worthwhile info, please let me know.

Thanks in advance!!!

Ok, I have done this same install on my car which just so happens to be the exact same car you have. Whatever you do BUY EXTRA TRANSMISSION HOSE, get atleast 4 extra feet of hose. You WILL need it. Everything else is pretty straight forward and simple.

Thanks for the input! Did you pull your bumper, or just the grille? I'm hoping to get by with just pulling the grille and working everything in that way.

Thanks again!

I just took off my grill, there is no real need to take off the bumper. It might make it alittle easier but not enough to remove the entire bumper though.

Well, I installed the cooler/filter yesterday. Although it was slightly time consuming, it really was a simple job. There's more than enough room with just taking off the grill. Routing the hoses was a bitch, but I had them wrapped in a slightly larger wire loom for protection, and that made sneaking/routing them trickier. For those of you that did it, how did you anchor the filter? there really didn't seem like a "perfect" way to do it. I used a thick piece of very dense foam, and anchored it to the other trans line. Seems solid. I plan on pulling the air box in a few weeks to double check everything.

I definitely do notice a change in the way it shifts. Less hunting, smoother shifts, more consistency. I want to get the system flushed now that I got the plumbing done. Maybe next week some time.
