A Miata "Track Toy"? I'm jealous.

FWIW, back when I was doing some weekend warrior stuff (possibly before you were born) we called them "Track Rats".

 

Yeah they're like roaches at autox events, but they are relatively inexpensive (parts are certainly cheaper than they are for the 6) are a competant chasis, and will let me stop using my DD for autox. But I have to see where I'm at financially after everything is all said and done. And dear god am I looking forward to that, after a 7 year stint in college (spread out over 3 schools and 2 majors) I'm ready for a break from academia, and a job that will actually pay the bills enough for me to have some left over (hopefully).
