Tanprotege,
I appreciate all responses.
My feeling was surprise that at 30,000km disc brakes just shouldn't need $200 of cleaning.
I could maybe understand it with the mileage you had .....

Anyway, please don't take offense - none was intended

and none taken.

Pipe: my favorite shop does a cleaning job for $25. I can't imagine how clean it would be for $200!

Good judgement call on your part. They wanted to clean your wallet.

For that price they should have scraped all the rust off and painted them twice!

I'll +1 EVERYTHING he said!! "... how clean it would be for $200!" LOLz!!!

$200?? I don't know if they wanted to "clean" your wallet or not, but they sure wanted to "lighten it" a bit!! Ridiculous.

Ask them how many free oil changes (or sex) you get with that next time.

Default sounds like a brake job

I think they could have done a four wheel brake job (pads) for $200 AND cleaned them while they were at it.

FYI ...
My Mazda 6 has 34,000 km and I've had it for 28 months - LOVE IT by the way.
This is an item on a Mazda leaflet titled 'Mazda Scheduled Service Menu'.
It is under 24,000 km or every 12 months - and it is on EVERY MAZDA CAR !!
- Inspect and clean brake discs and pads, front and rear
- Lubricate caliper rails/pins
- Inspect A/C operation
I went on-line and paid a few bucks for a 29-year mechanic's opinion - he had never heard of such a 'service' and he works on many different makes including Mazda.
I read several forums and subscribe to MyCarStats - I don't see anyone complaining about brake seize-ups?
I just don't get why it isn't in the owners manual - they tell you do lube the door locks/hinges for heaven's sake? I can see it won't harm the car but at 67 years old I don't have money to waste ....... I have awife that does that for me, LMAO

Thanks again for all your input
