Default Adjusting The Parking Brake

hey guys. I have a repair manual and it says the way to adjust the mazda 6's e-brake is to pull the cig. ashtray out from behind the center console and there is an alans bit that you turn to adjust. I just dont have an ashtray on the back of it! Does anyone else know how to do this? Thanks guys!

Whoa...repair manual must have been written for the Atenza (Euro and Japan version) we don't have rear ashtrays in North America.

Try removing your cupholder panel (just pulls straight up) and see if you can get to the allen screw they are referring to. Otherwise you may need to pull the center console.

Jeez...seems like a lot of work for our mazdas! How has everyone else done this? Shouldn't they be self adjusting anyways?

Thanks SS!
