Default 3.0 Intake Plenum Removal

Does anyone have any "tricks" to removing the intake plenum so you can change the plugs. I disconnected what I thought were all the hoses and connections (I even unbolted the EGR valve) and the plenum still seemed to be "caught" on something near the throtle body. I looked but couldn't see what was hanging it up.

Any ideas or suggestions are appreciated.

Thanks.

Go get one of those telescoping, pivoting, mirror thingys from the auto parts store. That should allow you to see back there, and find out what's keeping the plenum in place. Cheers,

David

Here's the excerpt from the factory service manual....Do you have to take off the intake?

I just noticed that it seems the manual I have only refers to the 4-cyl engine, so the diagram above may not apply to your 3.0L

I always take the four throttle body bolts loose after pulling the air cleaner housing and battery. Doing this allows you to not have to drain the coolant as you can just roll the throttle body away from the plastic plenum. It will also give you better access to all of the hoses and lines underneath this area. You have probably removed the coolant line from top of the throttle body but there is another on the other side and down on the bottom that you can barely see. Right next to where this coolant hose attaches to the throttle body there is a large vacuum line connection on the plenum and down below both of these is the fuel line which needs to be disconnected as the fuel injectors and rail will come out with the plenum.

Unbolting the throttle bodydid the trick. Thanks much for the tip.
