2010 Mazda6 trunk stops/starts working
Hello,
4 door 2010 Mazda 6, ~150K miles. I've owned it ~5 years and put 50k miles on it. For the past couple years, I've noticed that sometimes, seemingly at random, the trunk won't open using either the key fob or the button near the steering wheel. There is no button (that I'm aware of) on the trunk itself. There is nothing that I've noticed is related to when the trunk will stop opening, or when it will start again. Sometimes it only lasts a few hours. Sometimes a week or longer. It maybe related to temperature, as I've started thinking recently that it's more likely to stop working when it's hot outside.
I've never taken the car into the shop just for this issue. When I take it in for a service and mention it, I've been told there's no obvious issues with the electrical or mechanical systems related to the trunk lock/latch, and that unless the problem is occurring when I take the car in, it's hard for them to diagnose it.
Any ideas what it could be or suggestions (aside from just taking the car in when the problem is happening)?
