Default 2.3 MTX highway rpms

i have an 06 2.3 MTX sport. mainly a car for city use but ocassional highway

on the highway gion 80-85 yesterday. realized revs were at4000rpm?!
yea im only 17 n that makes for great passing power
but highway is suposed to be a "relaxed" crusing rpm, not 4000.
my parents acura MDX does 80mph at 1900 rpm. BIG diff

can someone with a 2.3 mtx tell me if this is the norm?

That's normal...FYI...Posted speed limit...i.e. designed highway cruising speed is 70 mph

You were probably more between 85-90

4000 RPM at 85 mp/h? that sounds about right for 4th gear for me.

Checked my 2.0L 5-speed.....3750 @ 85, 3900 @ 90 mph

I still say you were closer to 90 mph.

An Acura MDX has much larger tires (cross-over SUV) and as such would most likely be geared quite different from a car. It must have one hell of an overdrive for 1900 rpm @ 80 mph.
