Default 03 to 09 Engine Swap?

I've got to admit. My 03 Mazda 6 does not have as much horsepower as I'd like. Would a 09+ 3.7L V6 fit in it? It 'seems' to take up the same space as the 3.0, but I'm not expert here. What do you guys think? Thanks!

It would probably be cheaper and much more reliable if you simply sold your 2003 and bought a 2009 or later. The thing is, engine swaps these days are way more difficult than they used to be.

+1 not only do you have to get the thing to fit in the engine bay, but you also have to be able to get all the electronics communicating with each other. It wouldn't be impossible, but unless you have all the tools and know how to tackle the project on your own it'd end up being cheaper to just buy the new car.

I'm not buying those crappy 09 and ups. They've become grandma cars. They should have stuck with the first Gen looks and put the 2nd Gen motor and options in it. HATE THEM!

I'll agree with you there. But the fact still remains that unless you are an experienced electrician and fabricator, this would not be an easy task, and depending on if the tranny hooks right up or not, this could turn really expensive really really fast.
