Make sure you change the hose attached to it as well.

It's at back of intake plenum near centre of firewall but before the EGR.
It's Plastic.
Yours is a Mazda 5 so it may be different, sorry. SEE NEXT POST

Curious george: The dealer is telling you a dire story that can easily be verified or debunked. If the piston rings are broken or worn then you have loss of compression. So do a compression test on each cylinder or to a leak down test on each cylinder like so:

The compression test is easier and might be enough to verify the dealer's diagnosis. But dealer's diagnosis could be shall we say 'self-serving'.
