Smooth idler pulley broke off leaving stud in place 2.5 engine on GT
I got a bit of a disaster, with no warning of any kind, my smooth idler pulley near alternator broke off leaving stud in block, how is this designed to be removed?
Looks more like a bolt than a stud. You're saying it broke off—did it break off flush with the front of the block, or is there any bolt sticking out now that the idler pulley is gone?
yeah, it's in there stuck, can't see it, about 1 inch worth of bolt, the the thickest bolt either, can't see it or grab it, just know it's there, new pulley won't thread, very tight working space
after moving the alternator my tech say he sees the broke off part of the bolt coming out the other side of the external mount, should screw out and not even be under pressure, fingers crossed!
don't really know, maybe the AC and alternator load at same time and the heat, plus the age 2012 to 2022 were to much for it. the remaining bolt screwed out without a fight after removing alternator to reveal the area, the threading for the bolt is external and not into the block, taking pics later today
