Default Cruise control for Canadian Mazda 5 GS / Cabin Filter.

Hello all,

Here in Canada the cruise control is not even an option for the GS model. Has anybody out there searched for aftermarket solutions ? Is it "technically" possible to install the cruise control module from the GT model into the GS model.

Also, does anybody know where the cabin air filter is located ?

Regards,
Daniel

Hello

I bought a Mazda5 GT 2006 two months ago. While talking to the dealer at time of purchase, he told me it was possible to add the cruise control on the GS model at time of delivery.

If you need more info, your dealer should be able to help you.

Good luck

Your dealer either does not know what he is talking
about or he is too lazy to find out. All Mazda 5's come
with the wiring harness in place and the computer
programmed to run a cruise control. All that is required
is about one hour of labor and two components.
One is the steering wheel mounted controller and the other
is a different brake switch. If these are installed you
will have a factory cruise control on your 5.

Cheers,
Robin

Default mazda cruise control

I purchased a 2008 Mazda 5 GS and when I got it home my wife asked where the cruise control is. To my astonishment a GS has no cruise. I called the dealer and asked why they forgot to tell me. Had I known this I would not have purchased the vehicle because I always use cruise. Their service adviser used to work at a Mazda dealership and put me in touch with a friend at that dealership in Chatham Ontario. It took them 10 minutes plus a 10 minute test drive and I had cruise. It cost me $320. Well worh it and it is the same as factory installed.

Thanks Robin. I bought my 2007 Mazda 5, which did not have a cruise control, in June of this year. I took a cruise control switch off a wreck at PicknPull but it didn't work until I changed the brake switch which you suggested in your post of 2006. The replacement brake switch had 4 leads instead of the 2 leads on the original.

Is it necessary to do any re-wireing when I swap cruise from a 2007 Mazda 5 to a 2010 Mazda 5 ? Thanks.

I managed to get cruise control working with the 2 components, it worked, but there is no light indicating whether it is off or on. Is it just a matter of putting the lamp on the dashboard?
