If it is a blue tooth IMHO based on countless customers using them often have connect ability issues with OBDII and CANbus diagnostic connectors. Either get a replacement or get a REAL* Diagnostic scanner the plugs directly into the OBDII diagnostic connector.
I would suggest that you also seek someone that has one *^^^ that can confirm that you do not have a failing ECU.

I have a Foxwell 604 (I think) that I bought because the bluetooth cheapo ones wouldn't work. It has the plug in lead to the unit and other end to obd port.Initially it gave a couple of problems with the dpf being sooted up, and also said 'may have an internal pcm fault' . Now it just wont connect ! If it is the pcm that is failing, could I just get one from a breakers and would it work or would it need recoding by Mazda ?? It is a 2008 2.0 diesel manual.
As I suggested have you OBDII diagnostic connector checked with w hopefully professional shop quality Diagnostic scanner the connects directly to the OBDII diagnostic connector.
