Default Audio system question

My 2009 Mazda 5 has had a wonky aftermarket audio system for as long as I have owned it. The audio system quit working the other day so I removed the unit and replaced it with a used factory unit with one cd changer and no nav. The wiring was a bit of a mess. The large connector had previously been removed and subsequently re-connected, although it doesn't look completely correct. The small connector was missing. So I plugged in the large connector and the radio and cd work as expected. The steering wheel controls also work fine.

So here's the problem: Everything works as expected except the aux in. I plugged an MP3 player into the aux in but it is not recognized. I suspect the missing small connector might be the problem, but I don't see any unconnected wires in the audio compartment.

Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

Ted

Hi, I am working on trying to get my auxiliary connection working also. I have determined that the interior fuse is out. It is located on the interior of the passenger side door.
