Default 15in rims?

I bought a 2011 Mazda5 this summer. It's fitted with 205/50/17 tyres, which are great - at least so far. I'm considering fitting some winter tyres, as it transformed our previous Honda in the snow and the current ones look even wider.

I'm considering fitting smaller rims, and wondered if 15in rims would fit - I can lay my hands on some decent, low-mileage 15in Conti tyres (195/65/15) which would give a very close match to the current tyres circumference. The handbook mentions tyres this size, but I'm not sure if 15in rims would actually fit my car. Are they all mechanically identical, or are there different brake sizes for 15in?

Any help gratefully received.

as long as there the same bolt pattern they should fit. Mazda 3 came stock with 15 for first 4-5 years mazda 5 and 3 are same everything when comes to wheels.
I run rims from a 2002 Mazda protege as my winters and they fit with no issues.

Thanks for that.

Still been looking at this, and found something on the Mazda UK website which seems to show it's not possible You can see the alloy wheel description here, but it seems to imply that they will only fit certain vehicles:
...only possible on vehicles with OE 15" wheels (and 15"-brakes)

Clearance for brakes, calipers will be the deciding factor.
Ask your dealer if 15's will fit. Options for tires should be available thru mazda dealer..
Good luck, sorry can't really help you.
