Default Wipers start on engine start up, while switch wiper is in off then stop random
wipers switch on -while on -off mode- at start up. Have to wait and they stop anywere. 2008 m-3 s gt

In some markets ( maybe all ? ) there was a recall on the wiper motor, check with Mazda.
