Default Unstable bluetooth connection between Mazda 3 2013 and iPhone

Just curious if anyone has had/solved this. Bluetooth used to work fine with my Android phone from when I brought my Mazda 3 new in 2013. Changed to an iPhone 11. Connected to Bluetooth fine, but occasionally would drop the connection- screen would say BT searching, then reconnect after several seconds. This would happen a couple of times on a 30 minute commute. I thought it was related external interference, as there were two places it ALWAYS happened, but would also happen randomly at other times. Annoying but that was all.

I've just upgraded to an iPhone 14 Pro. This disconnects very regularly- every minute or two at random. It makes the Bluetooth unusable. All other Bluetooth connections are stable with both phones, it seems to be an issue with the car not the phone.

Maybe I can use a wire- but that's pretty annoying! Has anyone any ideas how to fix it, or seen this before?

Sorry, should also have said, I've tried the easy things including re-pairing, deleting all obsolete paired connections, turned off and on Bluetooth etc...

When you say 2013, is it the 2009 -2013 model/shape or the 2013-2018 model/shape?
