Default Bluetooth issue.

Just bought a 2008 cx9-Mazda for my 18 year old daughter. For some reason the Bluetooth is not working. It go through the pairing process. 1 I select setup then pairing options, then pair a phone then it ask me to make a 4 digit code. I do that then it says turn Bluetooth on the phone. But I can’t discover the cars Bluetooth. I wait till it times out. I have tired that several times. Someone told me to discount the battery for 10 minutes and try again. I did that but still it didn’t work. I really want Bluetooth working so my daughter can use hands free while she’s driving please help.

What phone does she have? It could be that the software in the vehicle is too old & obsolete for a modern phone.
