Trying to help a friend with her 2012 Mazda 3
Hi,
I registered here in the hopes that some of you can point me in the right direction. A friend of mine has a 2012 Mazda 3 4-dr, and we're trying to find a replacement rear bumper. She had an unfortunate encounter with a pole while backing up. I'm sure it will cost a ton to get this replaced at a dealership, and I'm betting there are places to buy a replacement bumper online so that I can just install it for her. I've never owned a Mazda, and as such am not familiar with the Mazda-specific performance/parts websites. Do you guys have any idea where I could find the proper part? I am hoping to find one pre-painted (black.) There's one on ebay but it looks all scuffed up and we're looking for new.
Thanks in advance!

A quick search and I found the front cover but not the rear. 'Guess the aftermarket hasn't yet caught up, but they do have the front cover available. In any case, you are not liable to find a new one in color. They always seem to come primed or bare only.
Since these are covers and made from flexible plastic, if there are no tears in it, why not take it off and try to persuade it back into shape from behind using some heat? Bodyshops do it when the damage is light.
My wife and I are originally from NE Pa. Where are you?

Unfortunately, her bumper isn't dented, it's cracked
I've always been a "car guy" since I was old enough to drive, and most of the cars I have owned have been enthusiast-type cars with a big aftermarket. I've done lots of similar work in the past, but unfortunately nothing I can do will fix the big crack in the material. I'm wondering if the 2012 model year is the same as the previous year? Maybe a 2011 would fit?
Oh, and we're in Scranton!

Well, well. We're from the Easton area... me from Martins Creek if you kow where that is? I moved out in '95 while the wife didn't come here till 2000.
To answer your question, yes I belive all second gen sedan bumpers are the same. In fact I did the search for all three yrs from 2010 to 2012, and came up empty handed. Only the front as I said, but it was a pretty quick search too. Perhaps a little more in-depth search would offer more choices?
