Hey guys, first post. Just joined because my friend needs help.

He backed into a short pole, and pushed in his trunk lid. Its pushed forward, and by the part that pivots, its pused down, both on the right side. I noticed the brackets that hold the trunk and was wondering if replacement would allieviate his problem. His trunk still opens and closes fine, he's just very upset about his mistake and wants to fix it.

where could i buy new brackets? thanks in advance for any help guys.

Edit: forgot to include, its an 07.

 

Pictures would help. :P If it's just the brackets that are bent then replacing those would fix the problem. However from your description it's hard to tell if there's something else broken as well.

 

Thats what I thought. He's coming over tomorrow, so maybe I can snap a few pics to post up. If it is the brackets, where could I find them. Thank you.

When you say "brackets," are you talking about the trunk lid's hinges?

I'm confused too... I think?
Look at #7 in the picture below. Is that what you mean?

 

yes, #7 was the part i was talking about. He came over and I started snapping pics, but I quickly realized, in the daylight, that it was more than just the hinges. His bumper is pushed away from the back of the car and on the side and has a crack on the upper lip portion, his tail light cracked in where the trunk lid covers and he has a huge dent in the back of the lid. I told him to fix it would require a new lid, bumper and some mild 1/4 panel massaging. if you guys still want me to post the pix, let me know.

 

'Sounds like a professional is needed for this one, though you/he/her might purchase and replace some of the parts to save a little $$$.

 

Yeah if the damage is as severe as you're saying then a visit to a body shop seems to be in order.
