RE: top speed
your '06 mazda6 goes up to 130? i never checked the cahnges, but the '03 i have and the '04 were 120 limited. i've hit 145, but not too comfortably, need to do some work on the car before i shoot for 155. i'm doing hood pins (that CF things just flops around above 100) and making a rear underpan to keep the rear from flapping (again, aftermarket parts).
but we are all still in the same boat, unless you want to pay for a stand alone there is no bypassing the stock gov.

RE: top speed
Thats crazy i have an 04 3i 2.0 and im pushing 0-60 in like low 9's and thats with and CAI and custom 2.5 inch exhaust with no resonator. Empty car minus me and a 10in sub. Thats also Brake torquing the max at like 3k rpms using manual mode shifting at 7-7200(gov) instead of 6500(Redline) Any ways the max i got my car was on hwy 70 going 110 trying to keep up with my buddy's SRT-4 lol. However i found if you are using manual mode and you shift to early from third to fourth your car will stall out. so if you dont redline it in third your not going in anyfaster...when i shifted it was like 4100 at 101 and i shifted in to fourth and my car wouldnt go any faster. howerver i did it again and shifted at 5600 into fourth and my car kept hauling. Also you reach new govener in third is 6500 it wont let you go higher than that like in first and second you can reach the ACTUALLY gov. of 7200.

RE: top speed
well thats because your top speed limiter kicks in and thats why, ive done a few practice runs to see which is the best shift points when going all out, since there is a a delay in between shifts i make sure i shift at eactly 6500rpm so when it acutally shifts the revs are at 6825, and you top out in 3rd at somewhere close to 6200. Stock revs are set at 7125, power stops incease at 7000. I have the exact same model with the same mods as yours but i have a 06 year, i had a old vid of what i thought was 0-60 and upon closer inspection it was 0-55 and my dumbass trying to drive in a straight line while shifting and holding the camara at the same time, it really didnt help by me short shifting 2nd gear, btw how bad did your friend pull on you?

RE: top speed
ive managed to do a burnout without hitting redline but the way i did it is not something i would recommend....at all, anyway no, no real damage will occur when hitting redline...once in a while but really unless your playing in the rain or snow you should even be able to get close to redline while moving.

RE: top speed
yeah i can normally keep my revs just below redline when peeling out.
and im not talking about hitting the red line, i was talking about hitting the rev limiter
when its nice and dry out, i'll hit the red line in 1st, and maybe 2nd every once in a while
