Tailgate compatibility
Hi guys!
I have a Mazda3 TS (2006) and need to replace the liftgate/hatch.
Due to my circumstances I can't be limited to just looking for 2006 models in scrapyards etc... So I was wondering what other years have the same type of hatch as a 2006 model which will fit seamlessly?
Thanks very much

You have a lot of options. The hatchback door should be the same from '04-'09. It shouldn't have changed until the second generation were released in '10 MY.
The only real differences (and this is speaking specifically for NA models, so YMMV) is Mazda switched from an internal center brake light to one integrated in the spoiler. The interior trim piece is different, and the wiring routes to the wing light instead.
Also you should be able to cross shop with '07-'09 MS3 hatch doors. The difference there is the MS3 wing has three connection points (center, left, right) vs. the four of the standard spoiler. Again the wiring for the center brake light is a little different, but pretty close to the standard model with a wing-mounted light.
