Default Stock Tires......

So, i have been keeping up with the scheduled maintnence for my car( oil changes, rotations, etc.) and i noticed the other day that my front 2 tires have nearly no tread on them. I have a 2007 mazda 3 s with teh 17's on them with the stock good years. I do not race the car or run it very hard all the time so i'm assuming the tires were just never rotated. It is only the front 2 that are in bad condition so i have 2 questions:

1. Do i have a case if i the recepits and can show i paid for a rotation when clearly there wasnt one
2. What tires would u guys recomend for my new set of all season tires

if you have the paperwork it is worth a try but you probably wont get it b/c dealerships can be asses about stuff like that, as for tires i like toyos but depending on wehre you live and the weather that you see should be your deciding factor on what tire you need.

I got 19,6k miles out of myRS-A's. They wear badly, IMO.

1. Were the receipts from the/a dealership? If so, you should have a case. However if an independent or franchised shop would be a little harder to make a case, IMO. You could always contact GY CS and see what they say... but good luck. My experiences w/them are that they are trained to be company robots and will never admit to anything negative about GY tires.

2. Depends on your funds and how much winter weather you have to deal with.
[ul][*]Funds no obstacle: I would say Bridgestone RE960As (UHP-AS) G009 (HP-AS) or Pirelli PZero Nero (UHP-AS) P6 Allroad (HP-AS)[*]Funds limited: Kumho ASX (UHP-AS)AST (HP-AS) or Falken ZE-912's or 512's ( both UHP-AS)[/ul]
Keep an eye on the tire wear figure though. Stay w/something w/@ least a 320 rating.

Usually+/- $100, but w/unstable oil prices the cost of tires can vary widely and weekly.
The 912's are a better tire than the 512's I had, but are heavier. I'm under the impression that this is not a concern for you so I would look for them instead.
Most Falkens don't come in a 205/50(?) either. I ran 215/50's which are a taller, but w/less difference (<0.5 mph @65) than a 215/45. Both sizes w/fit the OE wheels... no problem.

Sure!!It's basically a modified triangular piece of rubber that is set low on the sidewall and sticks out a bit to protect your rims from damage. A good idea, but I wouldn't discount a tire just because it doesn't have one.

In my experience, even though they have the same logos the "goodyear" "pirelli" "michelin" etc. stock tires wear far worse than the same tire purchased aftermarket. It seems as if car companies pay the major tire companies to make a lesser quality tire with the same markings to make people think they are getting a better deal. Its not at all uncommon for cars these days to need tires in under 30K.

Gee, I feel lucky!! I got 19.6k miles out of mine and felt ripped off.
The truth is, I hated the GY's so much I couldn't wait for a good excuse to replace them. I was glad they wore out.
