a have my 2004 madza 3 i put a AEM cold air intake on my car i felt power incress in and gain 3 miles per gallon
in gas mileage BUT i here what seems to b sparknocking when accelatering around 2000 RPM two 3000 even when
i put 93oct in it . does any one know what i can do or what caulseing it.

 

is it a repeatable issue? if so, take off the intake and see if it still does it, to at least isolate the problem. it might be something else (hopefully) and the intake just makes it more noticable? if you do have knock, then it's nothing to take lightly, remove the intake if that's the case ASAP. where you from, maybe another local owner can drop by to see if they hear it the same way...maybe a new set of ears might shed some light on things?

 

I think it might be your intake, cuz if its put on wrong, when accelerating the intake will knock.

i think the better term is KNOCK, rather than spark knock. generally it sounds like sand being thrown on metal to some effect. i've heard it a few times, due to timing issues, and it's not fun. again, being repeatable is the key. if there is a chance it's the intake, like i said, put the stock back on before anything else to see if it continues.
