I'dsay that you're probably still doing as well as you can keeping the Altima. I'm guessing(don't hate)that your credit is not the best or you might've been offered a better rate in the first place... or you bought the car from one-of-those-lots?

On the other hand... a 3i modelsedan in base trim is running right around $15kthese days and your monthly payment might be a bit less, as well as your fuel bills. I bought my 3S HB nearly 4 yrs ago ($19,6, or just under $20k @ the time,) got a pretty good rate and my payment is not as high as yours even after your husband took it over from you. But my credit is quite good too though, and I'molder than you.

Ask yourself please: Could you live with manual windows & mirrors, no cruise control, a 5-sp manual tranny (the ATX is another $950, but available,) less room, no central locking/unlocking, etc after driving a more upscale car as the Altima?

They also can suggest a general trade-in valuefor your Altima, and current loan rates. Start with that.....

 

Well they sure did shaft you. My brother leased an 06 altima brand new for $189 a month and the car was $18,000, but it was themost base modelyou could get, the only option added were wheel locks that were on wheels with hubcaps. I think before you switch to the mazda, see how much you can sell or trade your altima. If they charged that much for the car it should have quite a few bells and whistles or be a 3.5 liter. Check kelly blue book and see how much you can get back on the car. The car should not have depreciated much in 6 months (it's not an american car) you should be selling it for a little less than what you got it at. If the dealer really did skrew you and overcharged the carand you might lose a few thouand, then stick with the altima. Tell us the engine type and trim(2.5 or 3.5,S or SE) and what options the car has. If you lose a significant amount of money getting rid it, then stick with it.
