Default Rod knock in Mazda 3

Hi I’ve only had my 2004 Mazda 3 for about a month and it has a bad rod knock. Does anyone have any suggestions on what motor I should throw in it. And mod suggestions would help as I’ll be putting the motor in myself. I’m also new to the Mazda scene never owned one before so don’t really know much about them.

Easy answer, put a 2.5 liter Ford Duratec engine in there; the Ford mill is a virtual clone of the Mazda motor in your car, however, the Duratec has some very key internal upgrades, so not only is the engine more powerful, but it is far more reliable.

The 2.5 liter Ford motor will give you 20-30 more HP and pound-feet of torque (I don't remember the actual numbers off hand). If you want a boosted car, fix your car, sell it, and use the proceeds to buy a MazdaSpeed3 or a GTI or an EVO or something like that; doing so will get you a boosted car quicker and for a heck of a lot less money..

Yup. Get the Duratec, and then search out a set of instructions. Numerous forums have how-to threads; here is one: https://www.mazda3forums.com/61-powe...2-5l-swap.html

Note, look for a thread with more recent posts, come of the threads are very old and out of date in that there are more options available now than years ago.
