You have to be careful of the offset you use. There are numerous posts about offset/wheel size on www.mazda3forums.com under the rims/tire section.

I'm running 17x7 Mazda6 wheels w/ 225/45ZR17 tires and an Eibach Prokit drop (~1.2") with no issues at all.

If you want to run the RX-8 wheel, you'll need to go to a 225/40ZR18 tire. There are numerous people running that combo on the other Mazda3 forum with no apparent issues. I have those rims on my wife's Mazda6 right now, but when we get rid of it, those suckers are going on my 3.....

Anyone know who much the stock 17" wheels weigh? (without tires on)
