Hi everybody, I just bought a used 3 yesterday. I saw it sitting in someone's backyard and offered then 3k for it. I got the title from him and we shook hands. The only problem I've come across so far that I don't know how to fix myself is that for some reason the back hatch will not lock. All the others work fine and the power lock works fine for them, but even when they're all locked, the back is still unlocked. I've never worked on locking mechanisms before and the last time I worked on a Mazda was about six years ago on an '87 rx-7. So any tips or help would be great. Thanks.

 

First suggestion would be to pull the panel (can't remember off hand if there's an access panel) and confirm that there's voltage to the lock actuator on the hatch. If there's power to it and it's not moving check to make sure it's mechanically working and you can move it manually.
