Default need to remove rear speakers from '89 323 hatchback

I can't figure out how the hell to get them out. I bought my girlfriend new ones for christmas and still haven't installed them because it seems impossible to get the old ones out. It looks like the plastic thing that they're in is one giant piece that wraps around the entire trunk. Do I have to take the entire trunk apart? Or am I overlooking something?
