Default Poss Gas gauge/fuel tank problem

Okay, I bought my 06 MZ3 used 7,500 miles last Friday. When I picked it up they filled the tank and the needle was on the full line. Today, I decided to get some gas, it was on 1/4 tank and I filled it which said I put a little over 7 gallons in it. I know I filled it because it clicked a few times. When I got in and started it the needle only went up to between the 3/4 and full. I drive 26 miles and now the needle is down to 3/4.

Something does not seem right at all. Just last week the needle was on the full line. Also, am I correct that it is a 15 gallon tank???

It's actually a 14.5 gallon tank. That being said it does seem like there's something not quite right with your fuel gauge. Maybe your float is sticking some as you added 1/2 a tank and brought a 3/4 tank up to 7/8.

Talk with your dealer.

Well, I think that it may have been the place I got gas.

This AM I was at 3/4 tank so I decided to try and fill it again somewhere else. It took 4 gallons and when I started it it was on the FULL line. YEAH! I am going to let this tank go to just about E to see how many miles I actually get.

Thanks for your help.
