Default Deteriorating gas tank and fuel pump???

My 2003 MPV has had the gas tank and fuel pump replaced a little over a year ago. The van is giving me the same problems.....jerking and acting like there's water in the gas. Engine light flashes. It only acts like this when the gas tank is below half. On a full tank the van runs fine. I took it to the dealer who said both the tank and pump need replacing AGAIN!! Any ideas?? I can't afford to have this replaced on a yearly basis!! It's like $800!!! Thanks for any help or suggestions!!

The tank should not need to be replaced, if anything only the fuel pump would go, by the what your describing it seems as though the fuel pressure is not being regulated correctly once gas is past the mid point. Not sure on this car but it might have a seperate fuel pressure regulator or sensor, I would have the car hooked up to the computer to see what the codes that come up when the car is doing what you described. On a basic note, how many miles does the car have and does this seem to happen around the same time of year?...Area51 Out![sm=alien.gif]
