I tried to change into reverse to quickly, but something seems to have flipped inside the gearbox or wherever, so now my only options are neutral and 5th gear.

I had the same problem about four years ago. The car was towed to Mazda in Farnborough (now closed), who said there was nothing wrong, and charged nothing.

This week the same happened, but at Mazda in Watford, we paid £71 for them to examine it, but they have not found the magical fix that we received in Farnborough.

They say they've ruled out a sticking selector and sticking cable, and want to charge a further £220 to get into the gearbox where they say a gear could have snapped or synchromesh failed. But I heard and felt nothing when trying to perform this shift to reverse manoeuvre.

Has anyone experienced a similar issues and can give me some hints about what the issue is?
