Thumbs up O4 Maxda 3 struts and shocks

i have a 04 mazda 3, i need to replace the front struts and shocks on this vehicle. i am not sure if the struts and shocks are one piece or two pieces. Is it possible to replace only the shocks or do i have or should i replace both the struts and shocks? Anyone have instructions on how to do this, do i need any specials tools? does anyone have the part numbers and the best place to purchase these? what are the best brands?

thanks

All one piece. Must be replaced as a unit.
But of course the front strut assembly must be taken apart and the spring removed (and reused) to do it.
If you haven't tackled a job like this befgore, you may want to ask someone who has to help. Or barring that you might want to paya professional to do it for you.

Brands: Few available really. There is Bilstein, Koni Yellow Sports, Koni FSD's and if you can still find them, KYB G2's, which are really just glorified replacement shocks (twin-tube design.) If you are looking to upgrade (mono-tube,) look at the others instead.
