Hi all, first post here. I have driven a Mazda3 and liked it quite a bit. I am thinking of the hatchback version, non-turbo, with a manual tranny. Seems like new they were asking about 18K.

Are there typical deals and/or rebates available that reduce the price significantly?

What would a decent deal on a used but good example, maybe 30,000 miles, be?

Anything in particular with these cars to be aware of, be careful of? Any years or models with problem ares to avoid?

I would (from personal experience) stay away from 2004 and possibly 2005. 2004 Is the first year production run, and as with all vehicles, the first year is always full of bugs that haven't been worked out yet. Depending on what color you want (my fav is the 04 and 05 Lava Orange Mica), how many gears you want, and so on. If you want 5 speed auto-stick go with 06 and up. 2004 and 2005 were 4spd auto-stick's. I haven't really had any problem so far with the car, besides an oil pressure switch, and my purge canister solenoid.

 

With the prices I have been seeing on the used MZ3's you might be able to get a better deal on a new one. Also if you know anyone you can get a Ford X-Plan pin from you can use that on A Mazda also (S-Plan).

 

Stupid question Siber...What exactly is X-Plan pin and S-Plan?
